DC comics stands as one of the largest and most renowned American comic book companies. Although DC comics was founded in 1934, (as National Allied Publications) DC comics became renowned in 1938 with the first appearance of Superman. They are now ultimately a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment with the merger in 1969. The initials “DC” are roots from the company’s early popular series, Detective Comics, which later became part of the company’s official name. Of course, this makes the “Comics” in DC comics redundant, but it still serves as an instant reminder to their legacy.
DC Comics still produce material and media (comic books, television series, video games, etc) featuring a great number of popular characters. With comics and graphic novels designed to appeal to a broad range of ages, the DC Universe delivers action, adventure and excitement each and every month. DC Comics is one of the largest and most diverse English language publishers of comic books in the world.
